Matt Fishman Pottery - Soda Fired Sake Cups

Small cups or salt bowls, approximately 2oz capacity. Made from locally foraged clay and minimally processed to keep its character. The profiles on these are all slightly different and generally irregular, making for more organic forms. Some are left unglazed, some were coated in a slip made of dark clay and cobalt. In the soda firing, soda ash interacts with the surfaces of the pieces to flash various colors and sometimes turn glassy. This makes for lots of variation between the piece, with some being more "dry" than others; see photos for variety.
